How'd I Miss This?

I'd heard Paris was freed after three days but not that she was sent back to jail afterward. I guess that Doonesbury sequence would work after all.

And I don't know whether to be embarrassed about not knowing that...

...or proud.

UPDATE 6/27/07: Phil Kahn informs me she was re-freed late yesterday. I guess that's an example of the problems of doing a topical strip. And, oh yeah, an example of injustice.

She was just re-freed this afternoon, apparently. After three weeks total. Half the sentenced 45 days.

She really, really could've used the extra 24 days.

Close your eyes, people. I'm gonna defend paris. It might be too painful to watch.

There was no excuse for her first release. None. I'm glad the judge sent her bawling skinny ass back to jail.

However - her second release yesterday, while only being half her sentence, was exactly in line with California state law. Due to prison overcrowding, it's quite normal to have your sentence shortened down to half for "good behavior."
Now whether or not the law is just is a different debate.
